Overview

Life in Hong Kong moves fast, and many children spend long hours on phones and tablets. This can affect attention, emotions, sleep, and family connection. This summer, join us for a meaningful family journey to New Zealand, where parents and children can slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy quality time together.

This 8-day family study tour combines digital detox, nature healing, English immersion, cultural learning, and parent-child bonding. Families will stay in the New Zealand countryside, explore the famous glowworm caves, visit Hobbiton, experience Maori culture, and take part in a full-day local school exchange.

〔Transportation〕
Meet at Hong Kong International Airport and take a flight to Auckland.

〔Attraction〕Auckland Museum
Auckland Museum houses one of the world’s richest collections of Maori and Pacific Islands artefacts, showcasing the cultural heritage and artistic traditions of New Zealand’s indigenous peoples. It also presents the country’s geological development and wartime history, making it a must-visit destination for understanding New Zealand’s natural environment and historical background.

〔Attraction〕 Mount Eden
One of Auckland’s most iconic natural landmarks, Mount Eden is a dormant volcano standing 196 metres above sea level and the highest natural point in the city. It is famous for its perfectly shaped crater, around 50 metres deep and covered in lush green grass. From the summit, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Auckland, including the city centre, the Sky Tower, and the sparkling twin harbours.

〔Children’s Activity〕

Full-day Exchange at a Local Primary School
Children will spend a full day at a local primary school to experience New Zealand’s inquiry-based curriculum and learn about its approach to self-directed learning and holistic outdoor education. After the school visit, the group will pass by the Consular District, including the exterior of the Chinese Consulate-General in Auckland.

〔Parents’ Activity〕

Queen Street, Harbour Bridge, and Aotea Square Area
Parents will enjoy free time in central Auckland, including Queen Street, the city’s main shopping district filled with international brands and dining options. Nearby public spaces offer a more relaxed setting for leisure and exploration. The itinerary also includes time by the waterfront, where visitors can enjoy views of the marina, yachts, and Auckland’s vibrant harbour atmosphere. Lunch is at your own arrangement.

－Day 4－

〔Attraction〕 Hobbiton Movie Set
Located in the Waikato region, Hobbiton is the famous filming location for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. The site features 44 Hobbit Holes, the Green Dragon Inn, and the mill, all set among rolling green hills. With its magical scenery and charming architecture, Hobbiton is a dream destination that sparks children’s imagination and brings the fantasy world of Middle-earth to life.

〔Experience〕 New Zealand Farm Stay
New Zealand is known for its vast green pastures and peaceful countryside. As a country famous for dairy farming and horse breeding, it offers a truly relaxing rural atmosphere. This tour includes a special farm stay experience, allowing families to enjoy country life up close.

〔Experience〕 New Zealand Farm Activities

Enjoy a full day of country farm activities, e.g. a farm tour, light farm activities, afternoon tea, or free parent-child time.

For health and safety reasons, farm work will be limited to light activities only. Experiences may vary depending on the farm arrangement.

－Day 6－

〔Attraction〕Glowworm Caves
Visit one of New Zealand’s most famous natural wonders, the glowworm caves. Thousands of glowworms shine in the darkness like a star-filled sky beneath the earth. Participants will explore the caves on foot and by flat-bottom boat, gliding quietly along the underground river to admire this magical natural phenomenon up close.

〔Attraction〕Te Puia Maori Cultural Centre
Te Puia is one of New Zealand’s most representative centres for Maori culture and geothermal wonders. It is home to the famous Pōhutu Geyser, the largest geyser in the Southern Hemisphere, as well as bubbling mud pools. Visitors can observe traditional wood carving and weaving at the national arts and crafts institute, watch an impressive haka performance, see the national bird kiwi, and enjoy traditional hāngi cuisine cooked using natural geothermal heat. It is a top destination for experiencing Maori culture in depth.

〔Attraction〕Sky Tower (Exterior View)
The Sky Tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere and one of Auckland’s most recognisable landmarks. Taking photos with the tower is a must when visiting the city.

〔Attraction〕 Viaduct Harbour
Viaduct Harbour is at the heart of Auckland’s identity as the “City of Sails.” Having hosted the America’s Cup several times, it is now home to many luxury yachts. The area is also one of the city’s liveliest waterfront precincts, with quality restaurants and open-air bars overlooking the harbour.

〔Attraction〕 Harbour Ferry
The harbour ferry is one of the key transport links between central Auckland and the surrounding islands, travelling across the blue waters of Waitematā Harbour. It is both an everyday commuter service and a great way for visitors to enjoy the city skyline and harbour scenery.

Take a flight from Auckland Airport back to Hong Kong.

1. The final itinerary may be adjusted subject to actual conditions and flight arrangements.
2. In the event of force majeure or circumstances beyond the organiser’s control, including but not limited to traffic delays, heavy snow, road closures, weather conditions, flight delays, natural disasters, or government actions, any resulting delay, shortened visit, or incomplete itinerary shall not be grounds for compensation or withdrawal from the tour.

• Some families may be placed in different farms depending on capacity

Tour Fee

Adult: HKD 35,000
Child under 12 on departure date: HKD 33,000
Child aged 12 or above on departure date: HKD 35,000

Important: Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Tour fee includes

• Return air ticket and airport taxes
• Attraction admission fees, accommodation, local transport, and meals as listed
• Group travel insurance
• Stamp duty
• Service fees for tour escort, guide, and driver
• Pre-tour parent-child workshop and briefing session

Tour fee does not include

• New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) application fee
• Passport and visa fees, if required
• Optional sightseeing not listed in the itinerary
• Costs arising from travelling separately from the group
• Extra expenses caused by delays, strikes, weather, or other unforeseen events beyond organiser control
• Personal expenses such as shopping, SIM card, laundry, and items not specified

Fuel surcharge note: Tour fee is based on the fuel surcharge as of 1 April 2026. If the airline increases the surcharge by HKD 200 or above per person before the enrolment deadline, the difference will be collected separately.

 

Enrolment

Participants must register on the HKFYG Easy Member Platform and pay a deposit of HKD 3,500.

After the group is confirmed, participants will receive an email with instructions for document submission and final payment.

• Deposit is non-refundable if the participant withdraws after group confirmation
• Deposit is non-refundable if final payment is not completed by the deadline
• If the tour cannot be formed, the deposit will be fully refunded

Entry Information

HKSAR Passport, Macao SAR Passport, and BN(O) passport holders can generally enter New Zealand visa-free for up to 3 months, but must apply for NZeTA online or via app before departure.

Chinese passport holders must apply for a visa in advance and also apply for NZeTA.
